Maputo : Escola Nacional de Musica

The Escola Nacional de Música is the only music school in Mozambique. It gives a basic music education and pays attention to traditional African music as well as to western classical music.

Music Fund has helped the school to decorate and start up an own workshop, where they can restore instruments themselves now. The workshop has opened its doors in April 2007 thanks to the support of Pol De Winter (Pianomobil) and Joris Buysse (Papagenowoodwinds).Different students and teachers of the school have meanwhile come to Belgium for traineeships in the restoration of instruments. One of them - Anselmo Chissaque - has now been selected for a fully fledged course in piano techniques in the school for stringed and plucked instruments of Le Mans, the Institut technologique européen des métiers de la musique (ITEMM) thanks to the intervention of Music Fund but especially thanks to his talent for this profession.
