The credo of Music Fund is « Music is an instrument of development». Founded in 2005, this organization is bringing together culture and humanitarian action. The aim of its activities is to give support to young musicians and music schools in developing countries and regions in conflict: in Palestine (Nablus, Ramallah and Gaza), Israel (Nazareth and Tel Aviv), Mozambique (Maputo) and Democratic Republic of Congo (Kinshasa). Since the first collecting campaign in April 2005, which took place in Belgium, more than 700 music instruments have been gathered in different European countries, restored and sent to its partner-schools in the south. Music Fund also organizes training programs teaching how to tune and repair music instruments. The initiation workshops are taking place in the partner-schools in the Middle East and in Africa. The internships for African and Palestinian students are proposed in the workshops of instrument experts in Europe. Music Fund therefore not only organizes donations of music instruments: It also provides the know-how which allows people - related to the music schools with which it develops these projects - to tune and repair music instruments themselves, allowing them to quickly become independent of such partnerships.
